Based in Dorset and covering the southwest, I aim to provide high quality dental care for your competition horse, happy hacker or pet pony. All horses should have access to routine dental care, especially with modern feeds and practices.
Using the latest equipment and techniques, I tailor my work to suit your horses requirements, as every horse is different with different needs. Advice for clients is given freely; working together we can build a program for your horse to maintain not just oral health, but the general health and wellbeing of your horse. I believe most horses with a calm and patient approach will settle and allow routine dentistry. I prefer to work without sedation, though if required I can work with local practices so am able to arrange this.
Dental problems and issues are explained clearly, I will run through procedures so you know what to expect and everything is documented on an equine dental record sheet, individual to your horse. This also indicates aftercare (if necessary) and treatment program.
I have worked with and around horses most of my life, working on private hunt yards exercising and having a background in farriery, obtaining the City and Guilds exam. Experience working with, and under horses during my time in apprenticeship, enables me to work with most horses unsedated. This is beneficial for the horse as you avoid possible complications from sedatives, and will help to build positive experiences of dental care for your horse.
I've attended and passed the Equine dental studies foundation degree course at Hartpury College, attaining a distinction mark. I take a keen interest in the science behind equine dentistry, and believe in taking a whole horse approach rather than just looking at the teeth.
I have also passed the BEVA examination and am a member of the BAEDT, abiding by the associations performance guidelines and working practices.
